FARGO DTC4250e Card Jam
FARGO DTC4250e Card Jam

FARGO DTC4250e card printer is experiencing a card jam, please follow these following steps to clear the issue:

How to Resolve Card Jams

  • Update your printer’s drivers and firmware to the newest version
  • Clean your printer
  • Try printing one card at a time
  • Try using a different pack of cards
  • Ensure that you are using the correct power supply (each printer comes with a power supply)

Power Off and Open the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it
  • Open the printer cover to access the card path

Remove the Stuck Card

  • Gently pull out the jammed card. If it’s stuck under a roller, turn the roller manually to release it.
  • Check if there are any small card fragments left inside.

Check for Obstructions

  • Look for debris, dust, or misaligned cards inside the feeder or print path.
  • If the card is warped or defective, discard it.

Clean the Rollers

  • Use a cleaning card or lint-free cloth with isopropyl alcohol to clean the rollers.
  • Dirty rollers can cause improper card feeding.

Reload the Cards Correctly

  • Make sure the cards are:
    • Clean and undamaged
    • Stacked properly (not stuck together)
    • Within printer specifications (CR-80 size, 30 mil thickness)
    • FARGO DTC4250e Card Jam clear

Run a Cleaning Cycle

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Go to FARGO Workbench Utility → Select DTC4250e → Click on Printer Cleaning.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Check for Firmware and Driver Updates

  • Outdated firmware can cause feeding errors.
  • Download the latest updates from HID Global’s website.

Test Print

  • Insert a fresh stack of cards and print a test card to ensure the issue is resolved.

If the problem persists, there may be a mechanical issue with the rollers or sensors. In that case, contact HID FARGO support for further assistance.
