- Power Off and Unplug the Printer
- Make sure the printer is powered off and unplugged from the electrical outlet to avoid any potential electrical risks.
- Remove Consumables
- Open the printer’s front cover and remove the ribbon cartridge.
- Take out any cards from the input hopper
- Clean the Printhead
- Open a pre-moistened cleaning swab from the FARGO 86177 kit
- Gently swab the printhead by moving the swab back and forth across its surface
- Allow the printhead to air dry completely before proceeding
- Clean the Rollers (Optional but Recommended)
- Remove the adhesive backing from both sides of a cleaning card from the kit
- Power on the printer.
- Insert the cleaning card into the single feed slot until it stops
- On your computer:
- Go to Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on the DTC1250e printer icon and select Printing Preferences
- Navigate to the Card tab and click on Toolbox
- In the Clean Printer tab, click Clean
- The printer will pull in the cleaning card and perform the cleaning cycle
- Reassemble the Printer
- Once all components are dry, reinstall the ribbon cartridge and reload the cards into the input hopper
- Plug in and power on the printer
- It is recommended to perform this cleaning process after every 1,000 cards printed or whenever you notice a decline in print quality.
