How to clean FARGO DTC 1500?

Materials You’ll Need:

• FARGO Cleaning Card: These are specialized adhesive cards designed to clean the card path and rollers. Use only genuine FARGO cleaning cards.
• Cleaning Roller (if applicable): Some ribbons come with a cleaning roller.

Steps for Routine Cleaning:

1. Open the Input Hopper: Remove all cards from the input hopper.
2. Open the Ribbon Drawer: Open the ribbon drawer and remove both the ribbon and the cleaning roller (if present). Set the ribbon aside.
3. Prepare the Cleaning Card: Remove the protective cover from the adhesive side of the FARGO cleaning card. If your printer has a magnetic encoder, do NOT remove the paper strip at the bottom of the cleaning card.
4. Place the Cleaning Card in the Input Hopper: Place the adhesive cleaning card into the empty input hopper, just as you would load a regular card.
5. Initiate the Cleaning Process:
   • Via Printer Driver (Recommended):
     • On your computer, go to Start > Devices and Printers.
     • Right-click on the FARGO DTC1500 printer icon.
     • Select Printing Preferences.
     • In the Printing Preferences dialog, click the Toolbox tab.
     • Select the Clean Printer tab.
     • Click the Clean button at the bottom of the dialog.
   • Via Printer Display (if applicable):
     • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the Toolbox or Maintenance menu.
     • Look for the Clean Printer option and select it.
6. Printer Operation: The printer will automatically feed the cleaning card through the card path. The adhesive on the card will pick up dust and debris from the rollers.
7. Completion: Once the cleaning cycle is complete, the cleaning card will be ejected into the output hopper or reject hopper.
8. Dispose of the Cleaning Card: Do not reuse the cleaning card.
9. Reload Supplies:
   • Reload the ribbon and the cleaning roller (if it was removed) into the ribbon drawer.
   • Close the ribbon drawer.
   • Reload the cards into the input hopper.
   • Close the input hopper.

Cleaning Frequency:

• Perform routine cleaning regularly to maintain print quality. The frequency depends on your printing volume and environment. A good guideline is to clean the printer every time you change the ribbon.
